What is tai chi?
Tai chi, is a self-paced system of gentle physical exercise and stretching combined with deep breathing and relaxation techniques. Each posture flows into the next without pause, ensuring that your body is in constant motion. Tai chi is characterised by its slow, graceful, continuous movements that are gentle on the joints and muscles.
Tai chi incorporates the Chinese concepts of yin and yang (opposing forces within the body) and qi (a vital energy or life force). Practicing tai chi supports a healthy balance of yin and yang, thereby aiding the flow of qi.
Who can do tai chi?
Tai chi is low impact and puts minimal stress on muscles and joints, making it generally safe for all ages and fitness levels. In fact, because tai chi is low impact, it may be suitable even if you're senior who otherwise may not exercise.
